Sun Salutation Tutorial

The Sun Salutation (Surya Namaskar in Sanskrit) is a foundational practice in most types of yoga. It works the whole body and is a perfect way to gain confidence in practicing at home. It’s also a handy way of getting in a full practice when you’re short on time. I’m sharing two videos on the Sun Salutation - this one which will take you through the sequence - followed by another where I only cue the movements and breath.

There are an endless number of variations on the Sun Salutation sequence and this one is from a more ‘traditional’ Hatha Yoga. That means there are no chatturangas (yoga push ups) or upward facing dogs, making it a suitable alternative if you suffer from dodgy shoulders like me!
