I am really, really excited to team up again with my amazingly talented friend, Roomi, to invite you for six sunshine soaked days in south France. Some places are like a big, squishy hug for the soul and this little paradise close to the market town of Uzès is one of them. Think yoga, massage, delicious food, workshops, an abundance of nature, river swims and a whole lot of down time…
Imagine a perfect summer’s day: sipping a freshly brewed coffee with the morning sun already kissing your skin. A delicious yoga practice under a canopy of trees. The sound of a flowing river easing you into an afternoon nap. The afterglow of a blissful massage. Laughing over dinner with a group of like-minded people, all enjoying the same thing.
Nestled in oak woodland, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves is a little oasis where all of this happens.
We’re always so busy going to work, socialising and rushing around from A to B, that we often forget we’re human beings, not human doings. This is a chance to truly enjoy a holiday to get away from all the doing, and simply get back to being you.
Welcome to summer time in south France.
What to expect…
Where we’ll stay
We’ll be spending five nights amongst lush green gardens filled with flowers, fruit and vegetables (that will be lovingly turned into food), wooden hand-carved outbuildings, hammocks to laze in, an outdoor shala to practice yoga in and a shaded outdoor table to eat at. Over six, soul-refilling days you can expect pool time, peace, quiet and general, all-round loveliness.
The emphasis in this little corner of the world is rest and regeneration with a fun, calm vibe. The accommodation strives for sustainability, using permaculture methods for the garden, recycling and compost loos.
Sleeping accommodation will be in spacious shared bell tents or a larger Mongolian yurt, all furnished with comfortable beds, coconut floor-matting (bell tents) or hardwood flooring (yurt). You’ll have access to well-equipped outdoor kitchens, including a small fridge. Each tent has its own compost loo, and there’s even electricity to charge your phone when you need to, or if you want to!
All food on the retreat will be vegetarian (with vegan options) and will be made on site by our lovely host, Ella, using organic ingredients either from the garden or the local area. All teas, juices etc are also included in the price.
Yoga and Workshops
Our days will start with Pranayama (breathing techniques) followed by a yoga practice of Hatha Flow - a more dynamic version of traditional Hatha yoga. The evenings will be Yin yoga, which is a more meditative style with longer held poses, or guided meditations.
One of the best things about retreat life, is having time to delve into things you might not normally be able to. We’ll have a workshops where we break down some postures to help you deepen your practice, as well as one dedicated to essential oils and how to use them safely at home, using DoTerra oils.
All of this will be practiced on a newly built yoga deck in the forest behind the house (as long as the mediterranean style weather doesn’t throw us any surprises!).
Everything on this retreat is optional. It’s your holiday, so there’s no guilt about taking an option to sleep in or sunbathe if that’s what your body and mind need. All equipment (mats, blocks, straps, workshop materials etc) is provided and all levels are welcome!
Massage and Roomi
Few things in life are as delicious as a massage and I’m so, so excited that my beautiful and talented friend, Roomi - a passionate foodie and body therapist - will be back with her signature Alchemy of Touch treatments. If you were with us in France before, you’ll know just how special her energy is and how deep she can go!
Her treatments are specially designed to bring the body back into balance as well as working out physical tension. With a wide range of techniques including Swedish, deep tissue and lymphatic drainage, her treatments are the perfect way give your body the therapy it needs, and it’s also a great compliment to yoga! A 60 minute treatment is already included for you in the price, all you have to is choose your time slot.
We met in a cafe in Goa in 2014. After a long, laughter-filled talk about life, love and everything in-between, we decided to share a house and have been friends ever since. We love our retreats to feel like a holiday with friends because at the heart of it, that’s what it is!
Excursions and Free Time
One thing you won’t be short on is time to relax, or ideas on how to do it! We’ll have an optional excursion to a sweet little spot along the river where we can picnic, swim and sunbathe, which is included in the price.
There’s plenty to do in and around Uzès such as visiting the thriving market, taking a trip to lavender fields or the Pont du Gard (a UNESCO listed Roman aqueduct where you can swim). There’s also the cute town of St. Quentain-La-Poiterie which famous for artisanal pottery, the crystal clear waters of Fontain de Vacluse, rock-climbing or canoeing down the river Gardon. Napping in the garden, lounging in the pool or curling up with that book you haven’t quite got around to reading yet is also an option!
8:00 Pranayama (breathing exercises)
8:30 Yoga asana
Free Time/Massage (including lunch)
18:00 Yoga asana / meditation / mantra
As mentioned, everything is optional! If you’d rather sleep in or chill with a book, you’ll find no judgement here. The schedule shown here is just an example and some things might get shifted around due to the weather or the energy of the group.
Prices are based on two people sharing a bell tent, or three in the yurt. Don’t worry if you’re coming alone - most people do and it’s a great way to make new friends! If you do want to have a tent to yourself though, just pop me a message and I’ll send you more info. This is going to be six days of sunshine, soul replenishment and fun! So, what’s included?
