Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice designed to release tension from the body and let the mind rest. Because it takes place in a conscious sleep state, it is also known as the ‘yogic sleep’ and it’s been said that one hour of yoga nidra is equivalent to three hours of sleep. It works on a deep level, allowing you to let go of tension on the physical, mental and emotional levels.
There are so many benefits of Yoga Nidra. It helps to balance the nervous system, reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety. It can help still the mind in times of over-stimulation, or refresh the mind when feeling sluggish. It has also been shown to help boost the immune system as well as inducing deep sleep.
We will start with a gentle asana practice, along with some soothing pranayama before beginning the Yoga Nidra practice. Afterwards, you’ll feel deeply relaxed and able to enjoy a restful sleep, ready for a fresh start on Monday.
